Last night…er…early this morning I finished the book!  Well, now it needs edits and revisions and more edits, but it’s finished!

Now it’s time to start laying out LIVE FOR ME, Caleb’s story, while I let this one sit for a little while.  I’m also thinking of doing a story for Detective Chris Delmonico, and I need to do another chapter (or four) of SPEEDING.  The end of the year is incredibly busy in my retail-oriented real life, but I won’t let it stop me from writing (although it might be even slower than normal!).

And, since I missed Wednesday, a snippet!

She sank into the kiss, realizing two things. He really felt there was nothing in his life more important than protecting her, and he would die to save her if necessary. Her breath caught in her throat and she pulled away from him. She stared at him for long beats, but words just wouldn’t come. Swallowing, she turned to give a small wave to Haleigh. “See you Friday,” she said quietly and made her way out the door.

#amwriting, #wip, Dylan and Cassidy, Fight For Me, Wednesday WIP, writing

You know when you get to the part of a book that makes you yell at characters and  bite your nails?  Yeah, that’s where I am, but it’s not as fun to write as it is to read…  I haven’t been around much online (the whole facebook/twitter/pinterest world is just slightly distracting!), but I am plugging away at this book.  So… shall we do our Wednesday WIP?  Why not?

Her gaze swept up his body, finally connecting to his golden eyes, the lust and heat she saw there completely ensnaring her. She blew out a breath. She could straddle him in less than a minute and be calling his name in five, but that wouldn’t be satisfying. Not for what she had in mind. Before she could talk herself out of it, she slammed the truck back in drive and sped down the road.

Multiple POV

Those of you who have been reading me know I am one to give multiple POV (point of view for those of you who haven’t been to an English class in while).  In other words, I put you inside more than one head.  It has come to my attention lately that perhaps that isn’t the strongest way to write a book, and doesn’t allow for an emotional connection to the characters.

SPEEDING is a serial, manifesting in my head almost as episodes of an on-going story, so I feel it necessary to switch from Reid and Kendall to, say, Jason and Adrienne.  DANCE WITH ME is the first in a series, introducing characters that will be further explored in subsequent books and tie-in stories.

So… my question to you as readers is: Is it jarring and disconnecting to see through more than two main character’s eyes?  Are the POV changes smooth and easily understood?  Do you hate reading me and just follow my blog as torture?  Bueller?

DANCE WITH ME, Fight For Me, SPEEDING, writing

The problem with the whole working thing is that sometimes I don’t get to write like I’d like.  This week I’m working Monday through Saturday, so I will be writing at night, but we’ll see how the work count comes out.  Good news?  I’m definitely writing.  Bad news? Well, I have SPEEDING and FIGHT WITH ME to work on, and Cassidy and Dylan are flowing better in my head than the next installment of Kendall and Reid.  Chapter 12 will be this month, though… I just have to switch gears from Tyler back to Aylesford.  Easy, right?

So… That said, how do you feel about a snippet from FIGHT FOR ME?

She should step away. Run away. Anything. Instead of heeding the warning bells in her head, she skimmed her hands up his washboard abs to his hard chest. How could he look so amazing in a sling and gauze? She scooted closer until her hard nipples were against his bandaged torso, separated by only the thin cotton of her shirt. Aching to be closer to him, she shifted to encircle his neck with her arms. He was so tall, she still had to tilt her head to look into his molten gold eyes, the heat of his body burning her through her clothes. She shouldn’t be here like this, but she didn’t care. She could worry and feel guilty tomorrow.

For the Love of Longhand

longhand, panster, writing

Don’t ask me why, but the last 1500 words of Dance have started out longhand in a notebook before making it into the actual document.  Some edits and changes have occurred in the transcribing process, but for the most part the story has remained relatively intact.  What is strange is I can sit here on the laptop and not be sure what happens next (we’ve talked about my issues as a full-fledged pantser), but later when the computer is put away, some piece of dialog comes to me and I have to write it down.  There are notebooks and pens all over the house (although, I should probably be more careful since I don’t particularly think Girlchild needs to read my material… hmm…) and I always have a notebook in my purse too.  Saturday something even popped in my head at work, so scrawled it out as fast as I could and tucked it away.

Sometimes a story just flows as I type, but this one has been hit or miss.  Every story–every character combination–is different, and I guess Kat and Mason don’t like coming only as scheduled.  I wonder if I’m the exception or the rule.

I’d love insight if anyone has any 🙂  The best thing is that the story has gained 1500 words.  I guess I shouldn’t be worried how they arrived there, should I?

((hugs))
