Tis the season and all that, but since Live For Me is due in springtime (think April/May), then I better get crackin’ on Caleb’s book, huh?  So far I have to admit I am falling a little in love with the gentle, patient doctor and it’s interesting just how different he is from the alpha that Dylan is.  So, since it’s Sunday and I’m writing, I though I’d give you a snippet.

She needed him to help keep her mind on other things, so she asked, “Why do you call me Angel?”

He caught her chin in his hand, forced her to look him in the eyes. “You remind me of an angel. Ethereal and beautiful.”

“And fragile,” she finished, turning her face away from him. “I don’t know what you’re thinking when you look at me, but stop. I’m no angel, Caleb.”

I’m getting the book back from editing, and making this face O_o when I see things I missed.  Really?  I minored in English for heaven’s sake– I shouldn’t miss those things! I think to myself, but the truth of the matter is when you’re close to something, you read over things.  *Sigh*  This is why we have editors, right?

FIGHT FOR ME is featured on Black Velvet Seductions Blog this weekend, and I’m giving away a copy of DANCE WITH ME and an ARC of FIGHT FOR ME to one lucky reader.  Pop over there and ask a question!

So… Since it’s Sunday and all, how about Six Sentences?

Why had she left him alone? Oh, right, she had work she had to do, and she couldn’t just shirk her responsibilities because she’d rather be tending a man. A man she had kissed a few mornings ago, a man she couldn’t stop thinking about, a man who had nearly sacrificed his life to save her brother. She shook her head at herself. She had to stop thinking about Dylan and prepare herself for court.

Love Never Fails

This weekend we attended the wedding of one of Wonderful Hubby’s first cousins.  The bride was absolutely gorgeous, and the love between the two of them was so easy to see.  What a beautiful thing for a romance writer, and even more inspiring were the vast number of strong marriages on display.  WH and Bride Cousin’s grandparents have been married for 65 years, the groom’s grandparents for 51 years, BC’s parents have been married for 30 years, and G’s parents for 27.  Add to that the aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends married for 10 (including us), 15, 20, 30, 40+ years, and it was a practically a poster for enduring marriage.

Love is patient, love is kind… Love never fails.

So, on that note…

Chris’s dark eyes widened. “You love her.”

“We’ve established this.”

“No, you really love her. Like give your life for her, love her.”

He stared at his friend. Anything less wasn’t love.

Sunday Six and More!

Close Enough to Touch, Dylan and Cassidy, Fight For Me, Six Sentence Sunday, Sunday Six, Victoria Dahl

I am thisclose to finishing this book!  YAY!  Of course, that only means it will be time to edit, but we’ll pretend that’s fun and games and such, right?  So, first things first, let’s do six sentences.

His phone buzzed in his pocket at the same time he saw Chris’s car pull onto the rutted dirt road leading to the property. Evidently the detective had determined the same thing he had, finding his way out here. He checked the call, then slid his thumb across the screen. “I figured it out first, my friend,” he greeted.

“And you’re already here,” Chris guessed, his voice strained. “You haven’t killed anyone yet, have you?”

Now for the More! part of the post.  I read a book!  Yeah, I know I shouldn’t be screaming with excitement there, but I haven’t been reading much lately what with the writing and the working and the other crap life requires.  Anyway, I finally read Victoria Dahl’s Close Enough to Touch, and I really liked it (not exactly a surprise there–I love her).

The blurb:

For makeup artist Grace Barrett, Hollywood isn’t the land of golden opportunity. It’s the land of difficult divas, cheating boyfriends and unemployment. So when her great-aunt offers her a free place to stay in Jackson Hole, Grace thinks she’ll spend a little time in the sticks to figure out her life, and then move somewhere exciting to live out her dreams. But it turns out that there are a few more thrills in this small town than Grace was expecting….

Cole Rawlins is a rugged Wyoming cowboy born and bred. Yet he can’t help but be drawn to the fascinating big-city girl who moves in across from him. He wants to get close enough to Grace to see past her tough facade, but if he does, she might see the real Cole. The one with a Hollywood history gone bad. As they discover a sizzling attraction, it becomes harder for him to keep his demons at bay—and those fires from long ago may burn them both.

They’ll need more than scorching-hot passion to make this opposites-attract affair work. But if they can learn to trust one another enough to reveal their secrets, they just might have a chance at forever.

This book features a left-of-normal heroine, a hot as hell–but not perfect–hero, and I loved the opposites attract storyline.  You know me, I’m not a recapper or a spoiler, so I’ll leave you at that.

I know I say this a lot, but this week has been crazy.  Yeah, maybe I overuse the word, but oh well.  I haven’t been online as much as I’d like, and I haven’t written as much as I’d like…  But FIGHT FOR ME is closing in on the ending now, and I’m liking where it’s headed.  This book is turning out to be hotter and more of a suspense than DANCE WITH ME was– one of those was planned, the other just happened– and it should be finished and off to the editors and beta-readers in the next couple weeks.  We’re looking at a mid-October release unless we run into a roadblock, so cross your fingers for everything to go smoothly!

Since it’s Sunday, of course we have six sentences!

“Does he always look at you like that?”

She looked over her shoulder at him, not seeing anything strange in his rugged face. “Like what?”

Carolyn’s lips turned up into a smile. “Like you belong to him?”

Oh, that.

Sunday Six!

It has been a while since I’ve done an official Six Sentence Sunday, but I’m happy to be on track this week.  So, without further ado, here’s a sexy six from Fight For Me!

His lips covered hers, his tongue invading her mouth, stealing her breath. She was crushed by the strength of his left arm, teased by the texture of his beard against her skin, lost in the need to hold on and never let go. She kissed him harder, pushing that thought from her mind. Forever wasn’t on the table, but right now, oh, right now she was vibrating with the need to have him inside her. She slid a hand beneath the waistband of his pants, snaking it into his boxers until her hand was full of the hot, hard length of him. The memory of how he filled nearly made her crazy with wanting.

No Net Carbs… And a Sexy Six

Well, this low-carb thing isn’t too bad… I wish I could eat a brownie, and I’m afraid I’ll turn into a mouse from all the cheese, but all things considered, it’s not bad.  Good news?  Only one migraine!

So, since it’s Sunday and all, I suppose I should give you your six sentences, huh?  How about a super sexy six from Fight For Me? (Uh, this probably isn’t safe for work… Just sayin’)

He let out a grunt when he covered her, bracing himself on his good arm and thrusting home. He had been inside her before, but she was still surprised by the slight burn as she stretched to take his entire length. Last time he had given her the reins, but this time he took her with long strokes, filling her fully before pulling out and filling her again. He claimed her mouth as well, sharing her taste and smell with her with every thrust of his tongue. She wrapped her legs more tightly around his waist as he pounded into her, her nails scraping over the crisp cotton of his dress shirt, and she felt her body clench in anticipation of another mind-bending orgasm. He didn’t slow his pace when she shattered around him, finally groaning into her mouth when he found his own release, his cock pulsing within her.

Humans are Amazing

Dylan and Cassidy, Fight For Me, Humans Are Amazing, Olympics 2012, Six Sentence Sunday, Sunday Six

It’s time for the Olympics, and once again I am awed by humans and what some are able to do.  Last night we watched Ryan Lochte smoke the competition in the 400m IM, and today I saw the US Water Polo Team win their match.  (That just might be the most exhausting sport known to man, by the way).

The parade of nations is one of my favorite things ever–watching all those delegations march in alphabetical order, no one better or worse than the other, no one fighting or worrying about anything but winning a game and bringing home a medal and glory for themselves and their home country.  It makes me proud to be human, and gives me hope that one day we might as a species realize we are all equal, no matter our skin color, language or whom we choose to marry.  *Sigh* One day, right?  One day.  Until then, we can watch humans in the very best condition perform amazing feats on a daily basis.

So… Now that I’ve made myself sound like a wide-eyed idealist, I suppose you’d like six sentences?  Okay, then.  How about a sexy six From Fight For Me?

She took a deep breath and played the game with him. If he could make her wet and aching with almost a half hour left on their drive, she could return the favor. “I want to take you in my mouth and down my throat. I want to swirl my tongue around the tip and lick your essence, I want to feel you explode.” She swallowed. She was supposed to be torturing him, but she was doing a fine job of arousing the hell of out herself.

Piracy

#amwriting, Dylan and Cassidy, ebook piracy, Fight For Me, Piracy, Piracy is stealing, Six Sentence Sunday, Sunday Six, The Everetts of Tyler

I know, I know, you’re probably expecting six sentences from FIGHT FOR ME since it’s Sunday, and we’ll get to that in a minute.  First, I want to step up on a soapbox for a second.  I know people love to share great reads they’ve found, and that’s all fine and dandy, but–and here’s the big but–downloading from an unauthorized site and not paying for the book is stealing.  I know, you can find just about anything on the internet, and I don’t begrudge anyone looking for legitimate free reads– there are plenty of sites linking to great free reads, Pixel of Ink, Free Booksy, eReader Love, not to mention Amazon, B&N, All Romance and Kobo themselves.  If a book is free on purpose, then by all means download the heck out of it, sing its praises everywhere, and buy the author’s backlist or the rest of the series.  Free books are often marketing tools for authors to get you involved in a world, a storyline, a character, and occasionally they are pieces that are too short or just not right for publishing.  I have some myself that started life on Literotica, not to mention Speeding which will always be free because it started that way, and even after editing, I can’t fathom charging you for something I have freely offered for a year (but that’s an entirely different soapbox).

The point I’m trying to make here is: If it’s a matter of not having the money to feed your reading habit (believe me, I understand that one all too well), there are tons of free reads available, and there are these great places called libraries, with the sole purpose of lending books!  A lot of those libraries are lending digital copies as well, so if you like me are a digital reader, the libraries can cater to you there, too.

Okay, so off the soapbox, and on to what I’m supposed to do on Sundays!  I am not officially sixing this week, but I’ll pop the link in here anyway so ya’ll can go check out the folks that are official.

It’s good not to be official–I’m cheating today and giving you seven!

An old Olivia Newton John song popped in her head and she laughed at herself. No, she swore she wasn’t getting physical with him, not in reality, at least. In her dreams she could do anything, and he wasn’t in pain. She held back a moan at the thoughts tumbling through her mind. Good Lord, how was she going to handle this for another month or more? She had given her word and offered her home, and she was a woman of her word.  She just hoped that word wouldn’t kill her.

Yesterday Fight With Me went from 12,700 to 15,185 words, so I made good use of the the rainy yucky day!  So, shall we do six sentences even though I didn’t get signed up this week?  Yes?

“I.” She closed her mouth, her eyes tracking the lights in the ceiling, and he prayed the rest of the sentence was “want you.”

She spun away from him, walking down the hallway toward the bedrooms. He held his breath to see where she went, and almost let out a whoop when she walked in his room. “Throw me down and have your way with me, Dylan.”

There was a God and He was good. “Gladly.”
